Thank you. That was an excellent course. Well done. I learned more in two days from your class than I've learned or been taught in my 28 years as a Police Officer from any Police academy I have ever attended. I just wanted to say thank you. I will carry with me the knowledge I have learned from you for the rest of my life and feel confident I will be able to help someone in need if the time ever comes. Now that I can reflect on what I learned, I realized that you did an excellent job. It was a very well run class. I don't normally give out such class appraisals. This is the first time I have ever attached the word "excellent" to any class comment. In talking with the students who took the course it is amazing how much they truly took away from it and continue to retain. Your method ingrained the ABC(DE)'s of basic treatment into our minds and I believe it to be the single most beneficial thing we have done for the club since it started. I've been ranting and raving about the course to friends. The 'experiential' exercises were the BEST I've ever encountered . . . better than the minor trauma I've experienced in the field. I know several people who have been NOLS instructors. I don't know if you have any NOLS experience, regardless, I felt as though you were talking from the same places they do . . . preaching a similar mantra. Thanks for the great course!! I've had a lot of first aid instruction in my 29 years in the Army and about 10 with Boy Scouts, but this was the best - and most relevant - I've ever had. The class was particularly helpful in pulling all the essential pieces together in a straightforward but effective (and easily remembered!) process. Now that I've had this instruction, I feel much more confident of my ability to deal with medical emergencies our Venturing Crew may encounter in the back country. The course was great, in military medicine, I have had a lot of training in triage and casualty management and I found myself thinking that this course was "right on the mark" in what it taught. Many thanks for a job well done. This was really an excellent class. I can't remember a time when I have learned so much new information. And your delivery of the information was perfect, sufficient to drill important concepts deeply into my brain (I hope...) I am strongly encouraging the president of our hiking club to attend as soon as it is convenient for him. I definitely enjoyed the class and appreciated the teaching style. It seemed to me that there was a minimum of non-essential information conveyed, and you did a great job of emphasizing what was important. The class was about the best $160 I've spent in a long time, well worth it. I would like to thank you and your organization for an excellent class. It was informative, well taught, and inspiring. Cathie was so clear and organized with her presentation of material, with excellent examples and with a pace that was just right. I like the teaching style you all present. Clear, Concise, Confident. The class you taught in Raleigh was excellent. I learned so much, I certainly have a much better appreciation now for what it takes to be prepared in the wilderness for an emergency. I thought you did an excellent job teaching the class - you are easy to listen to and you made the topic interesting. I will be recommending this class to others, no doubt. Thanks again for your instruction, and keep up the good work! I loved the class. So much was new to me, and I really didn't expect that. I thought it was wonderfully informative and a smart approach. Usually, I step into a class room and instantly feel as if I have taken a bunch of Benadryl. I didn't feel sleepy or bored the whole weekend Again, great class. Thanks. I found the class to be very informative and challenging. I think it had just the right combination of hands-on exercise and classroom lecture. I have already recommended it to a few people and will continue to do so. Thanks again for your very thorough and professional presentation. The class was not quite what I expected. I thought we would be doing a variation on the same old theme, of how to make litters and carry injured patients out of the woods. I was greatly surprised by the course content. It was timely and well presented. To say the course was intense would be an understatement. It was all of that and more, especially the hands-on scenarios . . . the scenarios made the class room presentations come alive. Thank you for such an educational, intense and thought provoking weekend. I was not expecting it (I thought I was going to learn splinting and evacuation), but I learned this weekend the importance of Preparedness, Leadership, Priorities, Methodology, Organization, Teamwork and Communication. I found the class extremely informative and helpful. After speaking to a number of people in the medical profession, EMTs and nurses, they were impressed with the information and procedures that were taught in the class. You did an outstanding job and I'm glad that I took the course. The training was terrific. The methodology of lecture reinforced with scenarios made the vast amount of material easy to learn. Thanks for a great service. I would never have predicted you could cram so much information and practice into one weekend. It was a great experience for me and I felt we received far more than our monies' worth. The timing, pace, and content were outstanding. I just wanted to mention that I took the Wilderness First Aid class this past weekend and it was really incredible. Well worth the time and money, and an invaluable training. I highly recommend that everyone who races take this course. I was amazed at how much I learned in two days, and how much I learned about some subjects I thought I already knew. The reassurance that I and the youth's parents have that we can deal with more serious situations is of even greater value than I had originally thought! I truly appreciate the gift that WFA and their dedicated instructors and staff have given to me and the people I am responsible for. I just wanted to say what a great course it was, very informative and extremely well presented. Having been on many courses back in England, it was great to see a new style of teaching that I believe was effective, I liked all the scenarios and the discussions afterwards-something which is still lacking in courses in England! Outstanding! The class should be re-titled "Best Mystery in Town: What Did It!?" WFA was energy-packed, high involvement training that was led by a professional maestro who knew how to pluck the educational strings of the students and play realistic, "life-saving" tunes that will be remembered for a lifetime. Happy hiking and thanks. Thank you for the great instruction in both Wilderness First Aid and the bonus content dealing with leadership and prevention. The course was a great experience, both in the factual information/techniques/procedures AND in the "mindset" needed to handle Wilderness First Aid. The class was wonderful - informative, educational, practical, and presented in a manner which was easy to understand and remember. I feel confident now in dealing with any wilderness emergency. Thank you. I was on my way home today from Thanksgiving holiday in southern Ohio when an accident occurred immediately in front of my vehicle on the PA turnpike. One of the vehicles burst into flames before it even had come to a stop at the side of the road. I was the first person on the scene. I felt like I was operating on "automatic mode" during the time I was the only one helping. Looking back at the events of today, I see many things that I took away from your class. Please continue to emphasize to your students that wilderness does not necessarily mean woods and that there may be a need to apply the skills from this class at a moments notice in environments that don't seem outwardly "wild." This changed everything for me. I had never taken a first aid course before and although it was a very long two days, I learned much more than I imagined I would. I am so glad we had realistic scenarios; everybody was willing to act and participate so we could apply our new skills. Because we participated seriously, we understood how important it is to designate roles, to take vital signs, to follow the steps, and keep in mind the three principles, especially: Don't be distracted by the painfully obvious! The best first aid class I've taken. It stayed on course and kept war stories to a minimum. Thank you for the great class. It is without doubt the most comprehensive first aid course I have ever attended. Thanks. Thank you for your time and expertise. It has been an eye opener. Excellent and invaluable information. Thank you. Awesome class! Awesome Instructor! That class employed almost every "Good" teaching technique recommended by the experts . . . it was excellent. Thanks again for a really good course. It was quite an eye opener for me since I had never taken any formal first aid course before. I can't imagine how little must be taught in a 4 hour training . . . I feel much more informed and capable than when I walked into the class. I just wanted to thank you again for your exceptional course. I've already spread the word far and wide. It's amazing the number of times I have had training for snake bites but never had training for someone that nearly drowned or a lightening strike victim. As a public school teacher, I recognized aspects of your teaching that bode well for a positive experience. I walked out of your class feeling empowered (if not a bit wet and exhausted.) I learned a great deal and feel well-equipped and comfortable leading a group of 10 15-year-olds in the wilderness this summer. When I think of the lives you are saving by delivering Wilderness First Aid training, I am stunned. The organization of the class provides a structure that makes the information easy to learn, understand and remember. The time of participants is not wasted. It is hard to imagine how more learning could take place in just two days. Thank you for presenting such an outstanding course. I look forward to taking it again in the future. The course was Excellent! The subject matter of the course was more comprehensive and substantive than I had anticipated. Cathie's depth of knowledge and wealth of hands on experience clearly came through and made these the most intense classes I have been in since Law School. Thanks for a great experience. The class and instructors were excellent. The class covered all the areas that I was interested in. I will certainly recommend this class to other members of my hiking club. I've administered first aid on a number of occasions as a hike leader, and looking back now on those incidents, I can see now, with your training, how I could have handled them better. I thought you taught an excellent class. It completely changed the way I view things in the wilderness, and made me realize there are things we need to change in our club. The scenarios were a crucial aspect of the instruction, and I feel I benefitted the most from them. Overall, this course has made me a much more confident leader. Thanks again!
